The Black Om
The Black Om was created in the aftermath of the George Floyd killing. My vision for this conference amplified when I saw activist, organizers, healers, artists, and community members assemble to fight against the systems of white racism. However, after the marching and organizing was done, and the energy had been used to bring awareness to the issue, I thought to myself, what happens inside these individuals? What are the possible unsettled and unchecked mental health issues?
This conference is a platform for Black people to learn how to protect their mind, body and spirit.
The Black Om is a wellness art conference that includes psychotherapists, healers and artists assembled together in the name of healing.
This conference is for any individual who struggles with stress and anxiety, and for individuals who have experienced trauma. Our vision applies to artistic disciplines of writing, painting, dancing and more can aid in stress management.
The goal of the Black Om is for individuals to learn about stress management strategies, trauma resiliency, and limiting anxiety in a racist society. We want this audience to understand how wellness is an artform and practice.
